Iran recently rolled out an improved version of its !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! (Thunderbolt) fighter, which appears to be nothing more than a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! with a second vertical stabilizer. You know, because all the cool countries have fighters with twin tails. If more tails = more awesome, how awesome can we make the Saeqeh?

It looks cool if nothing else. I am kinda curious what benefits the twin tail gives that make it worth doing though.

My guess is none whatsoever. Northrop knows what it is doing, and when they developed the F-20 Tigershark, sort of a super Tiger, the F/A-18, F-14, F-15 etc. had been around for so long they would have been well aware of the benefits if any (let it be noted, though, that the F-20 had a single engine). With such a small airframe, and both engines so close together, I think a single stabilizer is completely adequate. This is surely just for looks.

There's something in some Star Wars work that has like 9 tail fins radially around the rear engine, which means of course that I spent the last five minutes fruitlessly searching Wookieepedia for it. I hope you're happy.

You know, as much as we and the Iranians don't see eye to eye, I have to give them credit for being able to keep their old birds flying and upgraded.
Been laughing about the Saeqeh since it first flew in 2005 or whatever though.
